I just returned from Boracay, and while it was always enjoyable on the island, I must admit the heat is becoming increasingly intense. As much as I want to stay inside the hotel, I need to make the most of my time exploring my favorite spots on the island. Fortunately, I received an invitation for a staycation in Manila right after my Boracay trip, which is perfect for recovering from the scorching heat.

Upon arriving in Manila, I headed to Midas Hotel and Casino for my three-day, two-night staycation. Midas Hotel is a popular choice for travelers visiting the lively city of Pasay in Metro Manila. The convenient location and attentive staff make Midas Hotel and Casino an appealing option for leisure and business travelers.

Located just over a mile away, Midas Hotel and Casino is conveniently close to the SM Mall of Asia. This makes it an excellent choice for those looking to indulge in shopping, dining, or entertainment. The Mall of Asia is one of the largest shopping centers in the World, featuring a wide array of stores, restaurants, and fun activities for families and friends.
Visitors can enjoy easy access to the SM Mall of Asia, just a short drive away, while avoiding busy city traffic. The hotel offers a free hourly shuttle service, and public transport options, such as buses, Grab, and taxis, are readily available for a quick and hassle-free journey.

I stayed in room 1022, a spacious Junior Executive Suite featuring a lovely balcony. The corner location offered a breathtaking view of the sunrise, making my stay even more memorable.

The bathroom offers a hot and cold shower with strong water pressure and premium toiletries. Additionally, it features a mini bar, tea and coffee-making facilities, and complimentary bottled water for a comfortable stay.

Make this room your refuge and delve into the sleek and understated designs while we place comfort at the forefront. Located on the 8th to 10th floors, the airport-side executive room measures 32.84 sqm, while the boulevard-side measures 36.98 sqm.
Junior Suite – Marvel at the Junior Suite, which mimics a scenic milieu and speaks of the colors of nature. This comfortable and aesthetically pleasing suite is designed in a warm and welcoming setting. The Junior Suite measures 39.30 sqm.

As a baker and a huge fan of anything baked, I love their freshly baked pastries alongside their morning coffee.

Lunch and dinner options include a variety of hot and cold dishes. The attentive chefs ensure that the food is freshly prepared.
Yanagi Japanese Cuisine
Yanagi is the hotel’s go-to spot for authentic Japanese dishes. The restaurant offers a sophisticated ambiance and an extensive menu that includes sushi, sashimi, and traditional Japanese entrées. Diners can expect high-quality ingredients and beautifully presented dishes.
The restaurant offers buffet lunch and dinner for only Php 2,500 per person from Thursday to Sunday. If you prefer à la carte, they provide various dishes, including bento boxes. We sampled their buffet dinner, and it was a blast; everything was good, but my favorite was their Japanese curry and sukiyaki. For bento boxes, priced at Php 1,990 each, we sampled their teppanyaki combination bento and shokadou bento.
Yanagi Bento
The teppanyaki combination bento includes a starter, three appetizers, and a main course featuring tenderloin, chicken, prawn, salmon, scallop, and sautéed vegetables. It is accompanied by salad, plain rice, miso soup, and dessert. The Shokadou bento offers three appetizers: grilled salmon teriyaki, assorted boiled vegetables, sashimi tuna, plain rice, pickles, miso soup, and dessert.
Chef Lester’s Tempura Maki
For an à la carte menu, I recommend that you try Chef Lester’s Tempura Maki, one of the most popular dishes in the restaurant. This prawn tempura roll is topped with salmon and crab roe and served in a special sauce.
Yanagi is the perfect restaurant for those seeking an authentic taste of Japanese culture through food. With Chef Lester Lucas’s expertise in traditional techniques, each dish showcases a rich culinary experience, making it ideal for casual dinners and special occasions with a wide variety of choices to satisfy different preferences.
2702 Lounge
2702 Lounge provides a relaxed atmosphere perfect for unwinding with a drink. The lounge is ideal for enjoying light snacks and beverages, making it a great spot for social gatherings or informal meetings. It offers a selection of pastries and coffee, ideal for a quick afternoon break.
The seating is comfortable, and the service is attentive. Whether guests are looking to enjoy a cocktail or indulge in some sweet treats, 2702 Lounge is a versatile space suitable for various occasions. The lounge’s friendly ambiance makes it a convenient stop within the hotel.

On my second day, I visited the Essenses Spa, which, although small and accommodating only four clients at a time, surprised me with its affordable services. Their signature massage costs Php850.00, while the traditional hilot massage is priced at Php900.00. For total relaxation, you can enjoy the Repose Massage, a three-hour session with a food scrub and body polish, for only Php1,998.00.

This has been one of my most relaxing spa experiences in ages, and it’s definitely worth the price. The best part is that you can enjoy their spa services even if you’re not a staying guest at the hotel.
